Connect Stripe

Wire up your Stripe Connect account so donations settle to your bank. This is the one day-one task that nothing else replaces.

Stripe is how donors pay you. Until you finish onboarding, donation forms render fine, but the Pay button at checkout will not charge a card. Plan for ten to twenty minutes; Stripe's identity verification is the slow part.

Before you start

You need:

• ADMIN role on your org. See Roles.
• Your organisation's legal name, ABN, and a bank account in the org's name.
• One person who can answer Stripe's identity questions (a director or authorised signer).

If you do not have those yet, get them before opening the flow. Stripe will save partial progress, but you cannot complete onboarding from someone else's chair.

Steps

1. Go to Settings -> Stripe.

2. Click Connect with Stripe. You will be redirected to Stripe's hosted onboarding.

3. Complete Stripe's flow:

   • Business details. Legal name, ABN (if you have one), address. Match the ABN registry exactly; mismatches stall verification.
   • Bank account. BSB + account number. The account name must match your organisation's legal name.
   • Identity verification. A director's ID, run against government records by Stripe.

4. Stripe redirects you back to Settings -> Stripe. The status badge updates to one of:

   Badge	What it means
   Onboarding incomplete	You haven't finished Stripe's form yet. Donors cannot pay. Click Continue Stripe Setup to resume.
   Under review	Stripe is still verifying your details. Usually 1-2 business days. Donors cannot pay until this clears.
   Connected	Stripe will accept charges. The Pay button on your forms works end-to-end.

   Together asks Stripe for the latest status every time the page loads. Refresh to see updates.

If onboarding stalls

A few common causes:

• ABN doesn't match ASIC. Re-enter the legal name exactly as it appears on the ABN registry; trailing words like "Pty Ltd" must match.
• Bank account rejected. The account name must match your org's legal name. Joint accounts and individual names get rejected for company orgs.
• Identity not verified. The director's ID failed an automated check. Stripe's email tells you what to upload; usually a passport or driver licence.

Click Continue Stripe Setup in Settings -> Stripe to fix and resubmit. Progress is saved.
