Set up Slack notifications

Post a message to Slack for every donation, and receive compliance alerts in your workspace. Each uses its own webhook, so you can send them to different channels.

Together can send two kinds of Slack messages, configured side by side under Settings -> Notifications. Each points at its own Slack incoming webhook, so you choose which channel each one lands in.

Before you start

You need:

Turn on the donation stream

  1. Go to Settings -> Notifications.
  2. In the Donation Stream card, click Add to Slack.
  3. On Slack's screen, choose the channel you want donations posted to (e.g. #donations) and approve.

That's it - you're returned to Together, the stream is switched on, and donations post to that channel in real time as they come in. A confirmation shows which channel it's connected to.

Add compliance alerts

In the Alerts card, click Add to Slack and pick a channel the same way. Choose a different channel from the donation stream to keep compliance alerts separate, or the same channel to put everything in one place.

Prefer to paste a webhook instead?

If you'd rather not connect the app - or your workspace doesn't allow it - each card also accepts an incoming webhook URL you create yourself. Paste it into the Webhook URL field, click Test, then Save changes.

What a donation message shows

Each donation message includes:

Turn it off

Untick Post a message per donation (or clear the webhook URL) and Save changes. Compliance alerts are unaffected - they keep using the Alerts webhook.
